Product Review : Melissa & Doug – Latches Board

Product review for Melissa & Doug- Latches Board

This toy was a surprise and a disappointment. The concept is good with large sturdy latches. The board itself was larger than I had expected. This disappointment was in the craftsmanship of the board. In recent purchases of Light, Camera, Interaction! Inc. products I have found there is a real problem with quality control. This board is a perfect example.
Here in this picture is the front of the board. The board itself measures 12”x6” and has 6 different latches. Behind the doors, gate, etc you will find some really neat pictures.

Behind these doors are the hidden problems in this potentially awesome product.

Here in the picture to the right you will see the damaged rivets. These rivets are sharp and the wood is splintered around it. On this particular back I cut my finger by accident.

Here in the picture to the left you will see what the rivets are supposed to look like. They are supposed to be flush to the wood and smooth.

In the board I received I had 3 latches that were done correctly and smooth. The other 3 were left butchered and sharp. I have yet to contact the company and will update this article after I speak with them.

On a side note contacting the company is rather difficult as they have no email contact and their website is rather useless. When you call their 800# you have to leave a message and wait for a return call. The last time I called the return call took 5 business days.
