Published on Wed Jun 2, 2004 4:38 pm

What worlds of wonder will you find under this black layer? Scratch the surface to reveal beautiful colors. Scratch out a drawing for a colorful work of art.

What You Need:
Poster Board (8 1/2 x 11)
crayons
black paint
paint brushes
wooden skewers (available at local grocery stores)

What You Do:
First the children take a sturdy piece of art paper (poster board)

The entire sheet is colored over with crayon using a variety of bold colors. Cover every inch of the poster board alternating the colors frequently.

Once the paper is completely colored paint over it with black paint. You must cover the entire poster board with the paint. Do not make paint layer too thick as this will cause cracking.

Once the paint has dried take a wooden skewer and scratch off a design.
